Willkie poaches Stroock funds chairman

Lior Ohayon joins the firm’s asset management group in New York.

Willkie Farr & Gallagher, a global law firm, has appointed Lior Ohayon as a partner in its asset management group, focusing on advising sponsors of private funds.

Ohayon also advises investment management firms and other financial entities on fund formation, asset management, compensation and regulatory matters across asset classes and structures.

He joins from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, where he was chairman of the private funds group and co-chairman of the corporate practice. Ohayon was at the firm for nearly 15 years.

Willkie recently advised Alpha Private Equity Fund on its $900 million seventh fund.

Law firm Orrick has also boosted its staff, appointing Mark Lehmkuhler as a partner in its M&A and private equity group. He joins the firm in Hong Kong, from Davis Polk, another international firm.

Lehmkuhler works primarily on M&A and private equity transactions, debt restructurings and other complex cross-border transactions. His clients have included CITIC Capital.

In April, Orrick bolstered its Milan practice, appointing Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli to lead its M&A and private equity teams in Milan and the US.
