White and Case opens Sydney office

The US law firm is beefing up its Asia-Pacific infra team with the arrival of 10 senior lawyers and the promotion of a Sydney-based partner.

White & Case has opened an office in Sydney after launching its Australia practice in Melbourne last December.

The US law firm has also confirmed the arrival of 10 lawyers from Herbert Smith Freehills. Joel Rennie will join the Sydney office, while Brendan Quinn, Andrew Clark, Alan Rosengarten, Josh Sgro, Tim Power, Jared Muller and Joanne Draper join the firm in Melbourne. Fergus Smith has been added in Hong Kong and Matthew Osborne in Singapore.

These lawyers, which have experience in multiple jurisdictions, will provide advice on project delivery, acquisitions and project financings.

Cameron Watson has been promoted to partner in its global energy, infrastructure & project finance practice, and will move from the firm’s Melbourne office to Sydney. Watson joined White & Case from HSF last November.

White & Case has more than 200 project finance lawyers in 40 offices spread across 28 countries, according to its website. In Asia, the firm has offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo, as well as an association in Jakarta, in addition to the Australian outposts.
