Proskauer hires PE partner in London office – exclusive

The NY-based law firm has been expanding its private equity practice in London, having named a PE real estate partner earlier this month.

New York-based law firm Proskauer Rose has hired a new private equity partner in its London office, private funds management has learned.

Eleanor Shanks, formerly a private equity partner at Denton, will advise domestic and international private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and co-investments in her new role.

She will start in her new position on 30 August.

Her appointment follows a series of hires at Proskauer’s London office as part of its expansion in the private equity practice. Earlier this month, Proskauer brought partner Vikki McKay from DLA Piper to advise on private equity real estate, as reported by pfm.

Shanks comes from Denton, where she focused on private equity and other corporate transactions as well as regulatory and corporate governance matters. She joined Denton in October 2012 as a senior associate in London and became a partner in private equity in May 2014, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Earlier in her career, Shanks was a senior associate in London at Gibson, Dunn & Crutche, and an associate at London-based Norton Rose, her LinkedIn said.

Proskauer’s private equity practice has recently advised on deals such as The Carlyle Group’s majority acquisition of London-based PA Consulting in September and the fundraising for Montagu Private Equity Fund V, which closed on €2.75 billion in September. It has also been advising secondaries firm Ardian on more than 20 secondaries transactions worth over $5 billion.

The law firm is currently growing its London office, having hired not only McKay in recent months but also special real estate counsel Ben Taylor, mergers and acquisitions partners Steven Davis, Matt Rees and James Howe, secondaries specialist Bruno Bertrand-Delfau, finance partner Alex Griffith, and tax partner Robert Gaut.
