Stroock former managing partner departs after 37 years

Stuart Coleman has taken a team of seven investment funds lawyers to Proskauer Rose.

Stroock & Stroock Lavan’s former co-managing partner, Stuart Coleman, has become an investment funds partner at Proskauer Rose.

Coleman joined SSL as an attorney in 1979, and led the firm as co- managing partner from 2004 until September. He continued to lead the investment funds practice after stepping down from the managing partner role.

Seven senior lawyers will join him at Proskauer Rose’s New York office, six of whom will take partner roles while the last will be senior counsel.

Included in the team is Janna Manes, an investment funds partner, who was previously general counsel at Warburg Pincus Asset Management.

The team advises on closed-end fund compliance and regulation, regulatory investigation and settlement matters.

Proskauer’s funds practice advises GPs and LPs across alternative investment vehicles including buyout, growth, real estate, fund of funds and secondaries funds.
