Leonard Green appoints former Debevoise lawyer

Andrew Goldberg, a former fund formation lawyer at Debevoise & Plimpton, has joined the private equity firm as general counsel.

Los Angeles-based private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners has appointed Andrew Goldberg as general counsel. Goldberg joins the firm in Los Angeles from the private equity funds and investment management team at law firm Debevoise & Plimpton.

He worked at Debevoise since 2014 as counsel in its New York office. In the role he advised investment banks, financial institutions and boutique firms sponsoring private investment funds, across all asset classes, according to his Linkedin profile.

Goldberg has also worked as ‘of counsel’ in the private equity fund formation practice at Gibson Dunn from 2010-2014, and was an associate at Debevoise from 2004-2010.

Leonard Green has over $14 billion of assets under management and specializes in leveraged buyout transactions of middle market companies. It launched an $8.5 billion Green Equity Investors VII Fund in 2015, according to PEI Research & Analytics.

A spokesperson for Leonard Green did not return a request for comment.
