Kirkland and Goodwin make a raft of promotions

Kirkland has promoted 31 private equity lawyers across its 12 offices, and Goodwin has promoted one in both its London and New York offices.

As a part of its annual promotion round, Kirkland & Ellis has promoted 81 partners across its global business, 24 of which are located in the firm’s M&A and private equity practice and a total of 31 advise on private equity.

Kirkland made the promotions across its 12 offices located in Beijing, Chicago, Hong Kong, Houston, London, Los Angeles, Munich, New York, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Shanghai and Washington DC.

The firm made the highest number promotions in its Chicago office, where five deal lawyers were boosted to partner-level.

The promotions include Theodore Cardos, who joined Kirkland’s London office as an investment funds associate in September last year and will lead the firm's European secondaries operations, as reported by pfm.

The promotions are part of the firm’s annual promotion round and are effective from October 1 2016.

Elsewhere, Goodwin made 15 partner promotions across its London, New York, Boston, San Francisco and Washington DC offices.

Of the 15 promotions, two private equity transaction lawyers have been named as partners, one in the firm’s London office and the other in the New York office.

All promotions are effective October 1 2016.

Goodwin also announced it is expanding its London team, which has grown from three lawyers in 2011 to over 50 lawyers. It will move in January from the current office in Tower 42, International Financial Centre, EC2N 1HQ to a bigger office located at 100 Cheapside, EC2V 6DY, according to a statement from the firm.
