PineBridge appoints COO

Julian Sluyters will take over from current senior managing director and chief operating officer George Hornig, who has stepped down.

US-based asset management firm PineBridge Investments has appointed Julian Sluyters as chief operating officer (COO).

Sluyters takes over the position from current senior managing director and chief operating officer George Hornig, who has stepped down from the role of COO but will continue to serve as managing director, a spokesperson for PineBridge told pfm.

Sluyters will oversee the product management and development, finance, operations, technology, compliance and risk management, the firm said in a statement.

His appointment follows the final close in March of PineBridge Structured Capital Partners Fund III at $600 million, surpassing the fund's $500 million target, according to PEI Research and Analytics.

Sluyters joins PineBridge from Allianz Global Investors, where he spent over three years as COO. During his tenure he was responsible for IT, operations, and legal and compliance functions, according to the statement. He also served as the president and director of the Allianz Global Investors Group of mutual funds and was a member of the US executive committee.

Prior to this he held senior positions at Old Mutual Capital, Deutsche Asset Management, UBS Global Asset Management and Ernst & Young.

PineBridge specializes in both traditional and alternative investments. The firm currently holds $10.9 billion of alternative assets under management made up of direct investments, and primary and secondary funds. The firm actively invests in developed, emerging and frontier markets, according to the firm’s website.
