MJ Hudson hires LP specialist

Saloni Joshi has joined as partner in the alternative asset-focused law firm’s LP Unit.

Alternative asset-focused law firm MJ Hudson has hired European private funds lawyer Saloni Joshi as a partner in its LP Unit. She will be based in the firm’s London office.

Joshi has worked as a private funds lawyer for the past 18 years. Most recently she established SJ Advisers, a boutique law firm offering advice to international clients active in the European private equity market. Prior to this, she worked as partner and headed the private investment funds group at Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, after spending eight years at Debevoise, where she was pivotal in building the firm’s European private equity practice, according to a statement from MJ Hudson. She initially trained and qualified at Linklaters.

Joshi’s practice includes advising European institutional investors in private equity funds, as well as representing investment managers, consultants, local government bodies, pension plans, family offices and high-net worth individuals. In addition, Joshi has acted on a broad range of private equity transactions, including primary investments, co-investments, secondary acquisitions and disposals, as well as advising on partnership and corporate law matters.

“Her experience advising sponsors and investors on international investment funds and private equity acquisitions together with her significant LP/investor expertise will blend perfectly with the European needs of our US and international clients and also strengthen our LP practice significantly,” said Eamon Devlin, MJ Hudson’s managing partner.

Joshi’s hire follows the appointment of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) private funds lawyer Benjamin Aller as partner and head of its new Paris office in March, as reported by pfm.

MJ Hudson was founded by former SJ Berwin private equity partner Matthew Hudson in 2010, and has offices in London, Paris, Zurich, Jersey and Guernsey.
