DLA Piper opens in Peru

The international law firm has launched an office in Lima by affiliating with a local firm.

DLA Piper, an international law firm, has opened an office in Peru, following an affiliation with local firm Pizarro, Botto & Escobar.

Operating as DLA Piper Pizarro Botto Escobar, the opening brings DLA’s coverage of Latin America to five countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile, as well as Puerto Rico. These offices were also established through local partnerships.

The Peru team includes 40 lawyers whose expertise include M&A and corporate, banking and finance, real estate and energy.

An increasing mix of emerging and established market investment in Latin America prompted the move, the firm said.

Last week, the firm announced it was paring back its European presence, closing its Berlin and Georgia offices.

Lawyers and support staff have transferred to DWF and Dentons respectively.
