Pemberton nabs compliance head from Neuberger Berman

The European asset manager’s chief compliance officer will take up the same role at the lender.

Pan-European mid-market lender Pemberton hired Helen Richards from Neuberger Berman Europe to head compliance at the firm.

Richards was previously chief compliance officer at Neuberger Berman and held similar compliance roles at Lehman Brothers Asset Management and Threadneedle Investments. She has also worked in compliance at Henderson Global Investors and Jardine Fleming Investment Management.

“Helen joins Pemberton with an impressive track-record of implementing compliance initiatives across the asset management industry. With a rapidly-shifting and complex regulatory landscape, Helen’s expertise will ensure Pemberton continues to act in accordance with industry best practice across all of the jurisdictions in which we operate and for the benefit of both our investors and borrowers,” said Pemberton’s managing partner, Symon Drake-Brockman.

At Neuberger Berman, Richards was responsible for compliance with regulatory standards including managing the UK regulatory process for the firm’s management buyout in 2009.

Pemberton has built its team significantly in 2015. The firm, 40 percent owned by insurer Legal & General, recently hired a general counsel, head of investor relations and, on the investment side, a new head of France, Geoffroi de Saint Chamas, who joined from Lazard.

The lender reached a first close of €547 million on its European Mid-Market Debt Fund in July.
