MaxCap names COO

The new hire will complement the addition of a chief risk officer made last month.

MaxCap Investment Management, a Melbourne-based commercial real estate debt and investment firm, hired Mark Heaven as chief operating officer.

His responsibilities will include managing the group’s corporate and investment operating platform, corporate governance and the corporate financial management function.

With close to 25 years of experience in the financial services and funds management industries in Australia and the UK, Heaven previously held executive positions in the retail and wholesale funds management businesses, including Aviva, Colonial, Perennial Investment Partners and EMR Capital.

At MaxCap, he will report directly to the firm’s managing director Wayne Lasky.

“Over more than two decades, Mark has built an impressive track record of strategic, operational and commercial accomplishments,” said Lasky. “He has proven to be a successful and trusted leader and his appointment is an exemplar of MaxCap’s continued ability to attract the highest quality professionals to lead our business.”

Back in October, the firm also hired Brett Corfield for the newly-created position of chief risk officer, a role in which he would be responsible for the firm’s risk unit with a focus on credit policy and monitor the risks of investments made across the firm’s investment management businesses including separate accounts, fund of funds and co-investment products.
