ACG to open office in Washington, DC

Amber Landis, a known figure amongst private equity CFO advocates, will relocate to Washington, DC as part of the office opening.

The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), a mid-market lobbying group, will have a Washington, DC office up and running by end of year. As part of the expansion, Amber Landis was promoted to vice president of public policy.

Landis is a well-known figure amongst leaders in the private equity CFO and COO community. For the last year and a half, she has helped recruit industry professionals into the Private Equity Regulatory Taskforce (PERT), an ACG sponsored group comprised of industry professionals that regularly meet to share best practices and speak with policymakers about the impact of new regulations on private equity.

The private equity industry has been meeting with policymakers to educate them on the unique features of the private equity model, and why rules written primarily with banks and other large financial institutions in mind do not always easily apply to the smaller private funds sector.

With a new base on Capitol Hill, Landis told pfm that “you will start to see more activity from [PERT] early on the fall” and that she will continue to seek to grow the taskforce’s membership.

Back in May, more than 20 PERT members gathered in Washington, DC to speak with lawmakers and regulators about private equity regulatory issues like broker-dealer registration and co-investment allocations.

The efforts are a “positive step for the mid-market private equity industry, especially going into a presidential season,” said Landis.
