New 2ND Capital hires CFO

The firm, founded by former AlpInvest executive Tjarko Hektor, has added a CFO and two associates.

New 2ND Capital, the secondaries firm founded by former AlpInvest Partners executive Tjarko Hektor, has added a chief financial officer.

The New York-headquartered firm appointed Kate Merli as CFO in the second quarter, Hektor confirmed to Secondaries Investor. Merli was previously CFO, chief compliance officer and head of investor relations at Snow Park Capital Partners, a real estate-focused hedge fund.

New 2ND Capital also hired two associates including one from Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners who was an analyst focusing on secondaries transactions. The firm now comprises seven professionals.

Hektor, who spent 16 years at AlpInvest and was a managing director and chairman of its investment committee, founded New 2ND Capital in 2016. The firm focuses on mid-market secondaries deals including spin-outs, direct secondaries, acquisitions of cornerstone positions, fund restructurings and acquisitions of co-investment portfolios, according to its website.

The firm has raised $48.8 million out of an undisclosed target for its N2C Opportunities Fund as of May, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Hektor did not comment on the fundraise.
