Charter Hall appoints ex-Brookfield exec as CFO

The Sydney-listed fund manager has hired Russell Proutt who spent 11 years at Canadian investment giant Brookfield Asset Management.

Charter Hall Group, a Sydney-based listed fund manager, has appointed Russell Proutt as chief financial officer.

Proutt, who will join in August, succeeds Paul Altschwager who left the firm at the end of last year.

He currently works for Canadian investment giant Brookfield Asset Management. He has been with the firm 11 years, most recently as CFO of Brookfield Australia. He also worked as a managing partner within Brookfield Infrastructure Group and as co-head of Brookfield Infrastructure Debt, according to Brookfield’s website.

Prior to joining the firm, Proutt was a director with Credit Suisse's investment banking operations in Toronto.

Charter Hall was founded in 1991 and has a total managed proprty portfolio of $19 billion.
