DLA Piper shuts two European offices

Private equity lawyers will transfer to other firms following falling client demand in Berlin and Georgia.

DLA Piper is closing its Berlin, Germany and Georgia offices, with private equity lawyers transferring to new firms.

Berlin-based Nina Siedler, whose private equity clients include RiverRock European Capital Partners, will join DWF as a partner from April 3.

She will be based in the same office as before; DWF’s new Berlin outpost will operate out of DLA Piper’s former office. The new practice will be headed up by M&A specialist Wolfgang Richer, who is currently based in the firm’s Cologne office. The launch is part of an expansion of its European M&A, private equity and real estate practice.

DLA Piper’s Georgia office will close on May 1. All staff will transfer to Dentons, which is opening its first office in the country. Among the lawyers making the move is counsel Ted Jonas, who specialises in private equity and real estate matters.
