Schulte loses M&A co-chair to Gibson Dunn

Private equity expert John Pollack has joined the rival law firm’s New York office as a partner.

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has added John Pollack as a partner in its New York office.

Pollack joins the firm from rival law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel, where he worked as co-chair of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and securities practice. After initially joining Schulte Roth in 2006, Pollack was made equity partner in 2008.

During his tenure, Pollack has advised on public and private mergers, acquisitions, divestures and tender offers. He regularly represents private equity firms, including Veritas Capital and Liberty Hall Capital Partners, according to a statement from Gibson Dunn.

In his new role, he will continue to focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, according to the statement.

“We are delighted to welcome John to the firm,” said Ken Doran, chairman and managing partner of Gibson Dunn. “John is a recognized star in the private equity and M&A practice areas. His addition will be an important contribution to our strong private equity and M&A capabilities in the US and around the world.”

Prior to joining Schulte Roth, Pollack worked at Sullivan & Cromwell and Cahill Gordon & Reindel.
